Beautifully Chic Living + Dining Room Design

Project Type

Interior Design

Location

Coconut Grove

This design was unique because it encompassed 2 distinct spaces. Each space was separate, but visible from one to the other so they had to somehow be individually designed but also cohesive and harmonious with one another. I chose coordinating colors from space to space, but applied them in different ways. There was definitely a mix of modern pieces and a more vintage vibe and yes- I did source vintage dining chairs from the 1970’s for the dining room and a vintage 1960’s Blanc de Chine lantern for the living room. It was so much fun to source these items and be able to coordinate them alongside more modern pieces. The beautiful wallpaper in the dining room made it feel extra luxurious, cozy and elegant, but the biggest change came with designing the built-ins for the dining space. As mentioned, the spaces were wide open. Adding free standing carpentry to look “built-in” allowed us to enclose the space for that intimate dining feel as well as give it some much needed separation from the main space. Still- each space coordinated with its neighbor in the best way. The client was so happy and the smallest details did not go unnoticed. Even vintage dinnerware was sourced to set the perfect table. What a beautiful space it turned out to be!
