Arsty Pre-Teen Bedroom With a Chinoiserie Vibe

This bedroom was one of those projects that felt deeply personal from the very first conversation, and that's exactly what made it so special to design.

To set the tone for the entire space, I brought in a talented muralist friend to paint the back wall in a traditional Chinoiserie style. The result was breathtaking on its own, but we didn't stop there. In the desk nook of the room, she painted a full, immersive underwater scene featuring my daughter's favorite animals. It was such a personal, meaningful touch. The kind of detail that transforms a beautiful room into a space that truly belongs to someone.

And that's exactly what this bedroom does. It speaks directly to who she is as a person, her interests, her imagination, and the artsy, expressive vibe she so deeply desired. Every element was chosen with her in mind. The mix of colors and patterns throughout, from the window valances to the rug, are global and boho-inspired, layering beautifully into a cohesive aesthetic that feels collected and completely one of a kind.

She loved this room so much and honestly, that reaction is what design is all about. There is truly no better feeling than watching someone walk into a space created just for them and seeing their face light up completely.
