A Dining Room Inspired by Astrology and the Night Sky
Project Type
Interior Design
Location
Coconut Grove
This open-concept living room was extremely large and open to both a stairwell and main living room. Making sure it felt grounded within the open space was of the utmost importance. As the home was rectangular, I chose a long table to take advantage of the space available, grounding it with pendant lights across the ceiling. An oversized sideboard in the back, combined with a large mirror further grounded the space. To warm up the area, I relied on woven textiles- both on the dining chairs and walls opposite the mirror. For a unique detail: I added series of astrological decals on the dining room ceiling for some interest and definition of the space. The super tall table lamps helped accentuate the vertical runners on the wall for added interest. And lastly, painting the sideboard and 2 main dining chairs helped it stand out a bit more from its surroundings. It was a small detail- but an important one. This dining room was so much more stunning in person than photos could tell.
