Small Spaces: A Cozy Guest Bedroom With a Personality!
Project Type
Interior Design
Location
Coconut Grove
Small spaces can be challenging but honestly, they can also be the most fun to design. There's something about working within constraints that pushes creativity in the best possible direction, and this bedroom is a perfect example of that.
Situated within a waterfront home, the design direction came to me the moment I found the wallpaper. It was so unique, so unexpected featuring tall, organic stalks of flowers that looked as though they were floating beneath the ocean's surface. Something about it felt alive and completely one of a kind. For a waterfront space, it couldn't have been more perfect. I was immediately in love.
From there, I pulled the deep black from the stems of the wallpaper and carried it into a bold accent wall behind the bed, grounding the space and giving it that dramatic, intentional anchor every great bedroom needs. But black and orange tones needed balance, so I introduced a beautiful, vibrant emerald green through the table lamps, artwork, and bedding. The result is a color story that feels rich, layered, and surprisingly harmonious.
The finishing touch is a vintage 1950s ceiling light featuring astrological signs. Because why not add a little magic to an already magical space.
Small, yes, but bursting with personality and charm. The perfect escape for any guest lucky enough to stay.
