The Palms holds a very special place in my heart, and that's putting it lightly. As one of two apartments I purchased in a waterfront condo to design and operate as Airbnbs, I approached it the same way I would any high-end client project. No details spared, no corners cut, nothing but the best.
The inspiration for this one was deeply personal. The Los Angeles-based band, The Palms, had carried me through a genuinely tough season of my life. So when it came time to name and design this apartment, the choice was effortless. I started with a moody, atmospheric wallpaper featuring palm leaves, and the entire design unfolded naturally from there. Dark, lush, and full of soul.
The challenge was the apartment was only 650 square feet. Every single decision had to be intentional. I incorporated built-ins wherever possible, removed closet doors to open up the sightlines, and in some areas removed closets altogether to make room for a coffee bar that guests absolutely love. Small spaces require smart design, and smart design can be just as beautiful as any grand, sprawling room.
To this day, The Palms remains one of my most favorite spaces I've ever designed. It means everything to me.
