One Bedroom Contemporary, Coconut Grove
Project Type
Interior Design
Location
Coconut Grove
Sometimes the most powerful design moves are also the simplest and this small one bedroom apartment is a perfect example of that philosophy in action. The brief was contemporary, clean, and sophisticated. And rather than overcomplicating it, I let a few intentional, high-impact decisions do all the heavy lifting.
The star of the show is the black accent wall. It's bold, it's dramatic, and in a smaller space, it does something unexpected. The black actually makes the room feel larger and more intentional rather than closed in. It lends an air of sophistication that immediately elevates the entire apartment and sets the tone the moment you walk through the door. When done right, a dark accent wall is one of the most transformative tools in a designer's toolkit.
From there, I kept things purposeful. Simple but impactful art was selected to complement the mood without competing for attention — pieces that feel curated, not cluttered. And then come the pops of color: carefully placed, just enough to bring warmth and personality into the space without disrupting that sleek contemporary feel.
The result is a small apartment that punches well above its square footage. Proof that you don't need a lot of space, just the right design.
